About This Project:
Our signature initiative addresses the urgent need to reduce adult illiteracy in Kenya. Despite a strong youth literacy rate of 85.1%, adult literacy drops sharply—only around 73.7% for ages 25–34. Many adults have left school due to poverty, early pregnancy, and family responsibilities.
Recognising these systemic challenges, Elara launched its Adult Education Program in 2018. We’re now expanding it into a responsive online learning platform, focused on delivering:
- Fundamental literacy and numeracy
- Computer skills and digital literacy
- Primary and secondary-level curriculum
- Mental health and life skills education
Learners will gain flexibility—studying at their own pace while balancing work and family commitments. We’ll provide devices (laptops/tablets), internet access, and live classes to support this transformative journey.
Project Goal:
Raise $75,000 to fully launch and operationalise the online adult education platform.
